I think it's fair to say that a majority of us that are into streetwear and/or Skateboarding have at least a piece of two from Diamond Supply Co, and whether you are, or aren't an avid fan/follower of Diamond, one thing is clear to me, Diamond is still steadily killing it. Now i've got to admit, I have been an avid Diamond fan dating back to about 2006-2007 right around the time I graduated High School and started working for Zumiez. Just clear it up, I'm not hear to debate whether or not you think Diamond is or isn't still a thriving streetwear brand today, I'm just hear to simply share a recent story about a purchase made through the Diamond Supply Co website.
Back in mid-April, Diamond teased some photos of the newest Diamond x Curren$y collection, which I believe is 4th time the brand and New Orleans-based rapper have teamed up on a collaborative effort. As one could expect, the collaborative effort included a tee-shirt and hoodie, both of which had a 4/20 inspiration. The project released 4/18, exclusively at the Diamond LA & SF stores, and online at www.diamondsupplyco.com and pretty much sold out immediately.
Here's where things got a little interesting, when I received my order from Diamond and cracked the box open, I was hyped to see the tee and the hoodie, both of which were really nice in person, but ultimately, I was let down when I looked at the packaging for my tee and saw it wasn't the size large that I had ordered, but instead an extra large. I was definitely disappointed by the error because I knew that the tee's had sold out pretty much immediately. Anyways, I shot an email to the Diamond Customer Service with a brief summary of what had happened, but also explaining that I knew the shirt couldn't be replaced because they were sold out. In my email to Diamond, I mentioned that I really loved the Wale collaboration and was super bummed that I missed out on it before it was taken down off the site. If you've followed my blog for awhile, you'll know I recently changed the name to Jordankeyser.com, but previously it was ablogaboutnothing.com, a name which was inspired by one of my favorite artists, Wale, and his mixtape series. Sorry, not trying to get sidetracked and go on a Wale tangent, but you get the picture, I'm a huge Wale fan and unfortunately missed out on the collaboration with Diamond. Luckily for me, Diamond customer service got right back to me and told me they still had some of the Wale tee's in the warehouse and would gladly ship me one for free to make up for the error, and they also informed me I could keep the Curren$y tee as a gift for the mistake. Now thats what Customer Service is all about, and just another reason to continue supporting Diamond. Now I know this may seem like a long drawn out story about getting a free tee shirt, but wait one second, it gets better.
A few days later, I received the package from Diamond Supply, and was pleasantly surprised upon opening it. Not only did Diamond send me the Wale x Diamond tee shirt in black for their mix-up, they also included the Wale x Diamond "The Hoodie About Nothing" sweatshirt for me...FOR FREE. I was blown away to say the least. I wasn't even all that upset when I originally got the Curren$y tee in the wrong size, but i've got to say that Diamond went above and beyond to make up for what I would consider a fairly small error. With that said, I have to give a HUGE shoutout to Diamond Supply Co, and their Customer Service Department for going above and beyond for me, I am extremely appreciative for them hooking it up like that.
Now, seeing as Diamond hooked it up for me, I figured it is only right for me to pay it forward. As I mentioned above, I received an XL in the Curren$y x Diamond 4/20 release, which will be too big for me. Since Diamond hooked me up, I'm going to hook up one of my IG followers as well. I will be raffling off the brand new Curren$y x Diamond Supply Co 4/20 tee in a size Extra Large, all you have to do is follow me on Instagram at @airjordank, and repost the picture of the shirt with the hash tag #airjordankgiveaway.
