We're back at it again with another My Top 5, this time around we're featuring another good friend of mine, one that has different taste in sneakers than your typical Nike/Jordan junkie. Tom Moricone aka @closecut is a friend of mine I met through Duke over at Dukes Barber Shop. If you follow my blog, you know that I have a great relationship with the guys over at Dukes, with that said, I was introduced to Tom when he joined the team on a part time basis and we immediately clicked based on a common love for sneakers. Tom eventually joined the team over at Dukes Barber Shop full time, which gave me a chance to learn more about Tom's interests when it comes to sneakers. Tom is an avid fan of runners so it should come as no surprise that a big chunk of his collection is made up of Asics, New Balance, Puma, and Nike running sneakers. Though some may still be unfamiliar with the "Runner" category, more and more people are becoming fans of these retro runner silhouettes which are often recreated with themed designs and premium materials by top designers and boutiques through collaborative efforts with these brands. Some of Tom's Favorite silhouettes include the Nike Air Max 90, The Asics Gel Lyte 5, and the Made in the US New Balance 998, all of which have huge followings within the sneaker world.
Like I touched on, Tom's area of expertise definitely comes within the runner category, with an impressive collection of general release and collaborative releases, I asked Tom to sort through his collection and come up with his My Top 5. Take a look at Tom's My Top 5 below and let us know what you think, are you familiar with runners or is Tom's My Top 5 your first look at some of these retro runner silhouettes.
