As I get back on top oF things with the blog, one of the many ideas I had when I started posting to the blog was to do a weekly or bi-weekly My Top 5 which many of you may, or may not be familiar with. What I'm aiming to do with My Top 5, is reach out to friends, whether it be personal friends or online acquaintances and ask them what their personal 5 favorites in their collection are, and just a brief description about what makes that shoe special to them. My hope is to get a variety of people involved, whether they are diehard sneakerheads or just casual collectors, Jordan collectors or Runner collectors, I just think a good mixture of people will help diversify what we see as far as peoples Top 5's, and I hope that maybe it helps opens some peoples eyes to a new brand or style they've never owned or worn before.
With all that said, I'm excited to bring you guys the first look at My Top 5, which features a good personal friend of mine and local collector, David Ravida aka @freshestair23 on Instagram. Dave and I first met back in 2011 at the release for the Air Jordan "Concord" 11, I was employed with Champs and he was one of the many campers in line more than 12+ hours ahead of time for the annual holiday release of the Air Jordan 11. From there, Dave and I became friends and often conducted business seeing as we both wear a size 12. What I've learned from David since becoming friends is that he has a diehard passion for Jordan Retros, and more specifically original colorway Jordans that MJ played in. David has quite the collection of not only Jordan retros but recently has ventured off into the world of Nike Basketball and the signature lines from Lebron James and KD. I recently caught up with Dave to discuss his top 5 and why those 5 made it to his list, take a look at what he had to say.
5. 2008 Countdown Pack Air Jordan 7 Hare
What comes to mind when you hear the name Bugs Bunny? Hare 7's comes to mind! Those throwback commercials with Bugs in the Hare 7's are classic. A smooth blend of white and greys with hints of red really set this Jordan 7 model off.
4. 2009 Air Jordan 11 Space Jam
A personal grail of mine, when it comes to the best Jordan 11's, usually Space Jams come to mind. A sneaker that will forever be popular and important to the sneaker world. 2009 was the last time we saw this classic piece of Jordan history.
3. 2004 Air Jordan 13 Bred
What more can you say about these? From the high-quality pebbled leather, to the 3M reflective materials to set them off. Black and red is easily the best go-to colors for any Air Jordan model.
2. 2010 Air Jordan 13 Flint
Probably my absolute favorite colorway to touch the Jordan 13. The flint grey suede, with that Navy Blue upper makes for an instant classic and loved by many Jordan fans. I would a 2005 pair that features 3M in the upper someday but these 2010's will do for now.
1. 2011 Air Jordan 3 Black Cement
Black Cement 3's....Who doesn't love this sneaker? Classic and clean from the Black leather uppers to the Elephant print detailing which bring the Black Cement 3's to life. A must have for not only any Air Jordan collector, but any sneaker collector in general. The Air Jordan 3 is easily one of my favorite Jordan silhouettes of all time.
