When the Nike Running department introduced use to Flyknit technology back in 2012, I was immediately a fan. The Flyknit Trainer was first on my list of models to try, and still to this day, the Trainer is my favorite of all the Flyknit models released but after finally getting myself to give a pair a shot, the Flyknit Racer is definitely the sleeper of the group. I was pretty skeptical to give the Flyknit Racer a shot due to the pointy shape of the toe and the overall minimal build of the shoe in general. It wasn't until I finally gave the Racer a shot that I realized that the minimal material used to build the upper on the model is actually what made the Racer an attractive alternative to the Trainer or Lunar models. By no means am I a fan of going sock less while wearing sneakers, but for the first time in my life, I felt it was necessary when wearing the Flyknit Racer. Embracing the minimal build and overall slipper-esque feel incorporated with the Flyknit Racer is what made me fall in love with the model and add quite a few pairs to my collection. Most of us could agree that the Black and White variations of the Flyknit Trainer and Racer are definitely fan favorites due to a certain Rapper/Pop Culture figure, there is no denying that the outcome is usually pretty good when Nike goes primarily Black and White on any Flyknit model. Another great example of this would be the recently released Kobe 9 High BHM which sported a Black and White upper on the high-top rendition of Kobe Bryant's 9th signature shoe with the Swoosh.
For 2015 Nike is giving us all a second chance to get our hands on the Black and White rendition of the Flyknit Racer, having released the same colorway in 2014, our second chance to own the popular Black and White mockup of the Racer will come equipped with a black tongue this time around, which I personally think looks better. During a recent trip to New York City I was walking around Union Square and ran into the Nike Running Store at Flat Iron and decided to stop in to take a look around. To my surprise, I spotted the newly released Black and White Racers sitting on display, and had to grab myself a pair to bring back Upstate. Unfortunately if you're looking for a pair, the Black/White Racers are sold out on Nike.com and most other online retailers, rumor has it a pretty large restock is coming both online and in-store at quite a few Nike Retailers.
Below are some pictures I recently took on Nike's newly released version of the Black and White Flyknit Racer. While I will admit, I didn't get as many shots as I had hoped, but I didn't want to let the ones I did get to go to waste. Take a look at the pictures below and let us know what you think of the Black and White Nike Flyknit Racer, did you manage to get your hands on a pair, or are you still sitting on your pair from the first release?
A big Thanks to the homie Duke over at Dukes Barber Shop for letting me use the shop after hours to get some pictures, much appreciated.
