2014 was a huge year for sneakers across the board, but I think its fair to say the Jumpman still has a stronghold on the sneaker market, at least in terms of basketball/casual sneakers. Going all the way back to February 2014, and we were blessed with the opening of a truly unique and one of a kind store, called Flight 23, an all-Jordan specialty store connected to the newly built Foot Action on 34th Street in Manhattan. When the announcement and opening of Flight 23 came, hopes were high that this would be the beginning of long line of exclusive releases that would be made available at the NYC location only, and just as we had hoped, we were blessed with a Flight 23 Exclusive Air Jordan 1, the "NYC 23" Air Jordan Retro 1.
An NYC only, campout style release of the "NYC" Air Jordan 1 was bound to cause some issues in the Sneaker Capital of the US and possibly the world. What felt like a stupid decision at the time, I chose not to head down to New York City to campout to grab a pair but some of my friends located in NYC were lucky enough to get ahold of them. After seeing the shoe in person, I knew I had to have a pair and after a long, patient wait and I finally got my hands on a pair during a recent trip to NYC, and for a very reasonable price at that.
Below are a couple quick shots I recently took of the Flight 23 Exclusive Air Jordan Retro 1 "NYC 23". I will definitely get some more shots of these as soon as possible but I am very pleased with how the few I'll be posting turned out. Thanks again to the homie Duke over at Dukes Barber Shop for hanging out and letting me get some shots in the shop after hours. Take a look at the pictures and let us know what you think of the NYC exclusive, Air Jordan Retro 1 "NYC 23".
